In 2016 we presented to the membership an Amendment to the Articles of Incorporation and changes to the By-Laws to include the Canadian Sport Pony as an evolving breed. The membership overwhelmingly approved these changes which were subsequently submitted for Ministerial approval.
Our request for an evolving breed status was denied, however support for recognition and identifying Canadian bred ponies was never in question. Through many discussions and meetings, agreement was reached to incorporate the Canadian Sport Pony as a strain within the existing framework of our By-Laws. This does not exclude the possibility of an evolving breed in the future. Under the amendments now proposed we can identify Canadian Sport Ponies , developing a population to build on.
The enclosed amendments have been approved with the representatives of The Minister of Food and Agriculture, governing the Animal Pedigree Act. It is with great pleasure that a General Meeting is being called to approve these amendments to the By-Laws incorporating the Canadian Sport Pony. This can be achieved either by voting in person at the General Meeting, or by proxy. Your proxy can be given to a member attending the meeting or submitted to the National Office by October 11, 2019 to act on your behalf.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any National Board Director.
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
