Now that the April showers have turned into May rains, the pastures, lawns, weeds and flowers are growing well. I hope that your mares are doing what they are meant to do and giving you amazing foals, and your stallions are settling mares too.
Canadian Sport Horse has been gaining momentum over the last few years and it is evident with more registrations, more young stock showing and ultimately more sales. This is exciting for everyone. A large part of the gain is due to sponsors and exposure. The Presidents Cup at The Royal Winter Fair, sponsored by Paul Morgan and Rockfish Wellies, has been a great class of outstanding foals and we are excited to see it again this year.
Last year saw the first sponsorship from Laurie McCulloch Building Moving at the Royal Winter Fair. $5000.00 split between the two yearling classes and is generously continued this year. The ongoing financial support from Vetroquinol (previously Bioniche) for the Grand Champion is greatly appreciated as is the support from Dini Greenway, one of our most ardent supporters for believing in the CSHA. They all help to make it a ‘Royal experience’.
The National Board of Soo Olafsen President (Ontario), Shawna Rinzler-Johnson, Vice-President (Maritimes), Paul Morgan Treasurer (Ontario), Barb Jackson (Alberta) Deb King (Manitoba), Christine Baker (Ontario), and Sue Ockendon(Quebec), are proud to launch the CSHA Stallion Performance Test. A long time in the planning, it will be implemented in 2017. This is going to allow the growth of our stallions in the breeding shed and for mare owners to see how each one excels in showing off their athleticism, not just their conformation. Watch for more information and criteria to be posted on the National Website.
The year 2017 is going to be a fun year with breeding increased and CSHA shows increased across the Country. We are expecting impressive results for your breeding programs in the future …. continuing the motto of Moving Forward.
